6th graders teach us about redlining and the Minneapolis Lakers

In the last post from our partners at Ramsey Middle School, we learned about the Lee Family who were the first African-Americans to buy a house in South Minneapolis.  This week, they follow up on that report with an investigation into redlining — the practice of mapping out which neighborhoods people of different ethnicities are allowed to live in.  Listen as these 6th graders explain the direct line between the overtly racist practices of banks and realtors in the New Deal era and the ways that redlining still exists today.

Then, stay tuned as we learn about the original home of the LA Lakers…Minneapolis.
